Sin Keeps You Off Target
BIBLE REFERENCES:

John 3:16, 17 (NIV) “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

Romans 3:22, 23 (NIV) “This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 6:23 (NIV) “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:7, 8 (NIV) “The sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God."

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV) “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”

1 John 1:8-10 (NIV) “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.”

1 John 2: 1, 2 (NIV) “My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.”

APPLICATION:

Your sins will keep you from reaching God’s best for your life. Sure, you can try to live your life independent of God if you want; you can even reject God’s plan for your life if you choose. It is entirely up to you. Each one of us has been granted a God given right to accept or reject God’s ways in our individual lives (our free will).
God did not design us to be like robots; programmed to faithfully and consistently obey him. God is fully aware of our weaknesses and our susceptibility to failure. God knew about this long before you and I ever came on the scene. Yet, out of his love for us (John 3:16) He created a way out for us.

The way out is through his Son, Jesus Christ, who paid the price for each failure and mistake we can possibly make. All that is required is that we humbly repent of our mistakes and failures and accept this free gift of salvation. Then, continue to daily grow in his word through faith, trust and obedience.

So, why hasn’t everyone done it? Why hasn’t everyone confessed their sins and made it right with God? Stubbornness, bullheadedness, plain old rebellion comes to mind.
A PRAYER:

“God, forgive me of my sins and my tendency to do things that are not pleasing to you. Give me the wisdom and strength to stay on the path you have planned for my life.”
