Lost Perspective
BIBLE REFERENCES:

Psalms 119:105 (NIV) “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”

Psalms 119:130 (NIV) “The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”

Proverbs 3: 5, 6 (NIV) “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”

John 14:26, 27 (NIV) “All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of every thing I have said to you.”

Romans 8:5 (NIV) “Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.”

Romans 12:1, 2 (NIV) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

James 1:5 (NIV) “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”

1 John 2:27 (NIV) “As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit – just as it has taught you, remain in him.”
What reality do you live in? Is it a God centered reality or is it a reality you created on your own?

Today there are so many voices to listen to, so many ideas and philosophies of life to consider. Many of these ideas and philosophies come and go with the fad. Real truth is genuine, it is legitimate, it is certain, it is exact and it is constant. It does not change with time. What was truthful yesterday, a year ago, 100 years ago or at the beginning of time is still true today. The source of all truth is God. You don’t agree? What are you basing your opinion on?

We all need someone greater than ourselves to point us to the truth. The Bible teaches us that God has sent us His Holy Spirit to teach us all things concerning the truth (John 14:26, 27). The Bible also tells us that we can have the wisdom of God just by asking and believing (James 1:5).

A  PRAYER:

“God help me to know the truth. Shine your light on my path and give me wisdom so that I can avoid the pitfalls and snares of life. Give me your perspective for my life.”

APPLICATION:

Without a true perspective, life gets complicated. What we think is up is actually down. What we think is positive is actually negative. What we think is truth is actually a lie. We end up basing our entire philosophy of life on a falsehood.
