BIBLE REFERENCES:

Matthew 7:7 (NIV) “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Romans 1:1:18, 19 (NIV) “The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.”

Romans 1:25 (NIV) “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator. “

Romans 2:6- 8 (NIV) “God will give to each person according to what he has done. To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.”

1 John 4:1 (NIV) “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.”

APPLICATION:

Each one of us has a belief system. Each one of us believes in something or someone - even if it is nothing more than an over-inflated idea of ourselves and our unique talents and skills. However, is our belief system based on absolute truth? Maybe what we think is “truth” is nothing more than “doctored up” fiction or a down right lie.  Or, perhaps, it is nothing more than wishful thinking.

How positive are you concerning your personal beliefs about God? Have you even thought about God that much? Perhaps you have written God off as a myth, a fairy tale, a hoax, or simply as a crutch to help the weak cope with life. The Bible tells us that God has good plans for each believer, plans for good and not evil, plans for a hopeful and blessed future (Jeremiah 29:11). Are you fitting into those plans? Do you even believe that God has a plan for you?
A PRAYER:

“God, your word tells us that no one will have an excuse for not knowing the absolute truth about you. You have made the truth perfectly clear to us through your creation and through your every day interactions with our lives. Help me to have an open mind so that I can choose and apply your truths to all areas of my life and become the person you want me to be.”

Truth vs. Fiction
Here is a basic truth that we will all face someday: When we die, when our time here on planet earth comes to an end, it will become crystal clear to us if our personal ideas and beliefs about God are based on the solid foundation of truth or a lie. The real problem, if we are wrong it will be too late to change our ways and make it right.  We will be forced to face the consequences we deserve.

Have you taken the time to search the Scriptures for guidance and direction for your personal life? If not, why not? What is stopping you now?
