Biblical Truth
OF
The Trinity
BIBLE REFERENCES:

Genesis 1:26 (LivBible) “Then God said, ‘Let us make a man – someone like ourselves, to be the master of all life upon the earth and in the skies and in the seas’.

Matthew 3:16, 17 (LivBible) “After his baptism, as soon as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened to him and he saw the Spirit of God coming down in the form of a dove. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my beloved Son, and I am wonderfully pleased with him.’”

John 1: 1-5 (LivBible) “Before anything else existed, there was Christ, with God. He has always been alive and is himself God. He created everything there is – nothing exists that he didn’t make.”

John 14:15, 16 (LivBible) “If you love me, obey me; and I will ask the Father and he will give you another Comforter, and he will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, for it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, for he lives with you now and some day shall be in you.”

APPLICATION:

Many people today scoff at the idea that there even is a God. These people are blinded to the truth by their own unbelief. Others may have a hunch about the existence of God but shrug him off as some abstract “FORCE’’ somewhere out there in the universe. Others acknowledge God only through a tragic event (“by an act of God”, they would claim). Still others conclude that God is far too complex to really understand and comprehend, and don’t bother trying.

The Bible teaches us that we humans were created in God’s own image (Genesis 1:26). This means that God has given each one of us the ability to learn about him and to communicate with him. It is true, we will never learn all there is to know about God, because we are not God! However, there is a lot we can learn because God has made himself known to us through his creation, through common sense observations and through Scripture.
SNAPSHOT:
Some things about God are difficult to fully understand because they extend beyond our human way of thinking into the spiritual realm where faith is required. For instance take the concept of The Trinity. You will not find the word Trinity in the Bible; however, the Bible describes God as three unique persons in One - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Each person of the Trinity is fully God; each has the same fundamental nature, personality and will. Yet, they are not three independent Gods but are three individual persons making up the same whole (God). Throughout history God has revealed himself in various ways; as a pillar of cloud and of fire (to guide his people), as an Angel of God (enforcer), as Jesus Christ the Son of God (our redeemer), as the Holy Spirit (our Comforter and Counselor) and as our personal Heavenly Father (our Abba Father).
 A PRAYER

“God, open my mind and heart and give me that faith so I can understand more fully the deeper truths about you, truths that extend way beyond the obvious.”
