A Call To The Difficult Path
BIBLE REFERENCE:

Matthew 7:13, 14 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.”

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

John 3:16, 17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes on him shall not parish but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

APPLICATION:

Most people will choose the easy way out every time. If given a choice between easy and hard, why not choose easy? As I approach retirement age, easy sounds better and better.
Jesus invites us onto the difficult path, the one most people avoid like the plague. It is this un-appealing, narrow gate that will lead to true living; it is this hard, difficult path that will lead to a hope filled life filled with God’s promises and blessings. And, it is this path that will lead to our heavenly reward when our time comes to an end here on earth.

Much to the dismay of many, the Bible clearly teaches us that there really is only one path leading to God. And, that path leads right through Jesus Christ. Of course, this way of thinking is way too narrow minded for our modern society, it is too closed minded, it is lacking in tolerance and besides all that it is not politically correct. However, this is one area where political correctness is not going to get you much. The politicians aren’t making the rules here, God is.
A PRAYER:

“God, help me to be wiser in my life choices. Help me to avoid the ways of immediate gratification, the convenient or the easy way out. Help me to find the higher path you want for me. And, give me the strength to climb it”

However, true living requires some tough choices. In our reference Scripture , Jesus instructs us to choose the “narrow” gate; the “not-so-appealing” gate.
