It All Started With God
BIBLE REFERENCES:

Genesis 1:1, 2 (NIV) “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.”

Isaiah 55:11 (NIV) “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Psalms 139:13-16 (NIV) “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”

John 1:1-3 (NIV) “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.”

John 1:14 (NIV) “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

1 John 1:1 (NIV) “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched – this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.

Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”
APPLICATION:

Sometimes we can get ourselves so far out of the mainstream of truth that we cannot recognize the truth when we see it. We see something that looks and feels like the truth when in fact it is nothing more than a charade, a facade, something to feed our own egos and self esteem. For example the false idea that everything in life revolves around us. You hear it all the time in the commercials, “go ahead indulge yourself - you are worth it, you deserve the best!”

The real truth of the matter, nothing in life really revolves around us. We are all part of God’s creation; part of his master plan. We are here because God gave us permission to be here. Yet, sometimes we act as though God’s sole purpose is to serve me, me, me, and mine and that he is obligated to fit into our plans.

The Psalmist gained a deep understanding of this when he penned the words, “All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be”. This man gained wisdom and insight into his real worth and value, he was part of God’s creation and plans, just like you and me.  We are all visitors here on God's territory - by invitation only!

 A PRAYER:

“God give me that same insight you gave to those who have gone before me, that I am truly part of your creation and I owe everything to you.  I am only a visitor here, under your rule.”
