BIBLE REFERENCES:

Revelation 1:7, 8 (NIV) “Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. So shall it be! Amen. ’I am the Alpha and the Omega,’ says the Lord God, ‘who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.’”

Revelation 21: 6, 7 (NIV) “He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the spring of the water of life. He who overcomes will inherit all this, and I will be his God and he will be my son.’”

Revelation 22: 12, 13 (NIV) “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

APPLICATION:

In Scripture God refers to himself as the “Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end”. Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet and Omega is the last. These Scriptures infer there is no beginning with God and there will be no end - God is eternal.  

Before the creation of the universe, before time, space and matter (and, the laws that govern them) came into existence, God was there. You are skeptical about this? Well, then, you explain how everything got started! You explain how the universe evolved out of nothing. 
​You explain how the laws of physics came into being and started regulating and controlling the universe. You explain how fragile life itself got started after the “Big Bang” explosion. You explain how the complex design of man evolved on its own. The only reasonable and logical conclusion is that these were the result of the creative acts of God! 

But man, the highest of God’s creation, has rejected God and His ways. Today, science and technology has become the modern day “god”. New scientific discoveries and new advances in technology have replaced God for man’s hope for the future. Was it the spotless reputation of science and technology that earned this high, esteemed position as “god”? Absolutely not! Today we have smart bombs, nuclear warheads and other high tech weaponry aimed at killing and destroying life. Modern technology has empowered terrorists, thugs and others who want to control, manipulate and destroy other people – even for a profit. Where is the future hope in all of this? 

Even with all of the amazing advances of science and technology, I have yet to see science create anything from absolutely nothing! This ability belongs to God alone. Why not put your faith, hope and trust in the true God, the one who actually created it all?  

A PRAYER:

“God, help me to remove the spiritual blinders from my eyes, help me to see things in life as you want me to see them. Help me to use that free-will gift you endowed me with to make good and wise choices in my life“.
