BIBLE REFERENCES:
Psalms 25: 8, 9 (NIV) “Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way.”
Psalms 25: 12-14 (NIV) “Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him. He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.”
Psalms 32: 8-10 (NIV) “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.”
Romans 12:2 (NIV) “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
APPLICATION:
God created mankind for fellowship. God created in each human the ability to think and reason and to communicate directly with their creator. We only have to go to the Book of Genesis, Chapter 2, to gain an understanding of this.
God placed within each man and woman a soul, a spiritual part, allowing them to communicate directly with their creator. God also placed within each person a free-will; the ability (and, a God given right!) to accept or reject him. He could have created all of us to be like robots; but, he did not.
It is clear in Chapter 2 that Adam and Eve both used their free-will gift to rebel against God. God gave Adam and Eve everything they could possibly want, except for one thing – and that was the one thing they created a desire for. By Chapter 3, we find both Adam and Eve being escorted out of the Garden; they were invited to leave by their creator.
