The Fool's Dozen
BIBLE REFERENCES:

Psalms 14:1 (LivBible) “That man is a fool who says to himself, ‘There is no God!'. Anyone who talks like that is warped and evil and cannot really be a good person at all.”

Psalms 16:5-7 (LivBible) “The Lord himself is my inheritance, my prize. He is my food and drink, my highest joy! He guards all that is mine. He sees that I am given pleasant brooks and meadows as my share! What a wonderful inheritance! I will bless the Lord who counsels me; he gives me wisdom in the night. He tells me what to do."

Proverbs 1:7 (LivBible) “How does a man become wise? The first step is to trust and reverence the Lord!”

• Haughtiness
• Lying
• Murdering
• Plotting Evil
• Eagerness to do Wrong
• A False Witness
• Sowing Discord among Brothers"

Proverbs 15:28 (LivBible) “A good man thinks before he speaks; the evil man pours out his evil words without a thought”.

Proverbs 28:1 (LivBible) “The wicked flee when no one is chasing them! But the godly are bold as lions!”
APPLICATION:

The Bible pulls no punches when it comes to describing a fool. Being a “fool”, at least in Biblical terms, seems to revolve around the rejection of God and his ways. You can be the smartest person on the block with advanced degrees in every field of endeavor you can think of and still be a fool. The world may look at you as one of the elite, one of the “gifted”, one at the top, but if you reject God, God considers you to be a fool.

The fool’s dozen:

1. Rejects God or anything that has to do with God.
2. Proclaims with pride, “I did it MY way”.
3. Blinded to God’s truth and deaf to his word.
4. Proclaims to be a “self made” success.
5. Rejects God’s blessings in favor of his curses.
6. Mind and heart set on evil.
7. Other “gods” make up the priority list.
8. Filled with fear about the future, refuses to seek God’s help.
9. Vacillates between faith and unbelief.
10. Accuses God for all misfortunes, takes credit for the good.
11. Places blame on others rather than accepting the blame.
12. Measures personal goodness against others below.
 A PRAYER:

God, help me to be wise. I know this begins with my fear and reverence of you. Everything else will fall into place when I get this right.
