Choose The Best Path
BIBLE REFERENCES:

Psalms 25:12-14 (NIV) “Who, then, is the man that fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way chosen for him. He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.”

Psalms 32:8-10 (NIV) “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him.”

Psalms 81:11-16 (NIV) “But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. If my people would but listen to me, if Israel would follow my ways, how quickly would I subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes! Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

Psalms 84:11, 12 (NIV) “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. O Lord Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you."

Psalms 86:11 (NIV) “Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”
APPLICATION:

How foolish it is to ignore God’s ways. How foolish it is to assume that you alone know what is best for your life. If you have not partnered with God in your life than you are not thinking very clearly and it is doubtful you are making the right choices. All wisdom comes from God. You cannot continue to make unwise decisions and do unwise things and expect God’s blessings to follow you.

God wants so much to bless our lives but he will not force himself on anyone. It requires a personal decision to invite God into our lives and to accept his instructions. Only God knows what is up ahead, only God knows the best path for our lives and only God controls our destiny.

The Scriptures instruct us not to be like the senseless horse or mule that must be led along by bit and bridle, rather, we are to develop common sense and God inspired wisdom so that we intuitively know which path God has chosen for us. Then the blessings will come, then the burdens of life will become light, then God’s favor will lead the way, then there will be a hope and a future leading to an everlasting life with God.
A PRAYER:

“God, help me to become more sensible in my thinking, help me to align my thoughts with yours so that I can find the best path you have established for my life’s journey.”
