APPLICATION:

I heard someone say that words are the most powerful things in the universe. I believe that. The Bible tells us that God spoke the universe into existence. You can’t get any more powerful than that. We all know that wars have been started by an unwise selection of words. Wars have also ended by words.

There is an old saying, “Sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me”. This statement is totally false. Words can hurt; they can hurt deeply and they can hurt for a life time.

As a Christian, I must be extra careful in the selection of my words. The Bible tells us in Matthew 7:36 that we will give an account to God on Judgment Day for the careless words we have said and have not repented of. Words are important! Select them wisely. Your future is at stake!
A PRAYER:

“Lord, help me to control my tongue. Help me to carefully choose my words so that they promote healing and not stir up strife.”
