God's Special Plan for You
BIBLE REFERENCES:

Psalm 25: 8-14 (NIV) “Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in his ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way. All the ways of the Lord are loving and faithful for those who keep the demands of his covenant….. He will instruct him in the way chosen for him. He will spend his days in prosperity, and his descendants will inherit the land. The Lord confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.”

Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV) “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) “For I know the plans I have for you’, declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Romans 8:28 (NIV) “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

James 4:13 (NIV) “Now listen, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.’ Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.”

APPLICATION:

So, you really think you are a “self made” person, do you? You think all of your life long accomplishments and achievements were obtained by your own two hands and your own clear, logical thinking?

Sorry to burst your bubble; but the fact is, none of us are a self made anything! We owe everything to God, the one who made us who we are. Where do you think you got your intelligence and your ability to learn and acquire skills so that you can gain wealth? Don’t you realize that you can’t even take your very next breath without God’s permission? Such boasting and bragging is foolish.
James 4:13 says that it is a foolish man who claims, “today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money”. Believing and acting like you have total control over your own future is not very bright. Verse 15 points out the proper way we should think and speak. We should be saying, “If it is the Lord’s will we will live and do this or that”. Anything more is just boasting.

There is nothing wrong with making plans for our future, or setting goals for our lives - as long as God is included in the process. God has special plans for each one of us and when we make His plans ours, we will be blessed in all areas of our lives. That’s a promise God has made to us.

A PRAYER:

“God help me to fit into your plans for my life using all of the talents and skills you have allowed me to obtain. I know that only then will I find total contentment, true fulfillment and my God ordained purpose for my life.”
